William G.B. McCallum, M.D., FACP, FACEP
Dr. William McCallum is a board certified Internist and Emergency Medicine specialist who maintains privileges at Saint Luke's Episcopal Hospital and The Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
He trained at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina and St. Paul's Hospital/Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. He attained the rank of Assistant Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. After leaving Baylor, he practiced medicine as a Senior Medical Consultant in New Zealand. Upon his return to Houston, he collaborated with Dr. Salem and provides one-on-one intensive internal medicine care both in and out of hospital for Dr. Salem's patients. Dr. McCallum is fluent in Spanish, French, German, and Italian. He relates well to patients and their families from all backgrounds.
Karla Thalmueller-Driskell, R.N., B.S.N., M.S.N.
Clinical Nurse Specialist, Medical Administrator
Karla Thalmueller-Driskell began her career in nursing in 1978 at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences School of Nursing, where she earned her 5 year B.S.N. with a Nurse Practitioner component in Family Practice. She has been a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the National Nursing Honor Society, since 1980.
She completed her Masters Degree in Oncology Nursing in 1989, from the University of Texas School of Nursing, and became a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Karla assisted in the establishment of Salem Oncology Center.
She is a dedicated professional and a patient advocate who enjoys taking time with each patient and their family members to educate them about the journey they will be taking with their cancer treatment. Karla is available throughout the patient's treatment and follow-up process as a source of support.
Michelle Lodico, R.N.
Michelle has been a nurse since 1973. Among her accomplishments are 13 years of adult and pediatric intensive care nursing, including working with Dr. Michael DeBakey's team at The Methodist Hospital in Houston. For the last 25 years, Michelle has devoted herself to Oncology Nursing, first at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in the Intensive Care and Emergency Room and then with Dr. Salem's team in Medical Oncology in 1989. She joined Salem Oncology Center at its inception in 1991 and has coordinated outpatient follow-up and chemotherapy treatments since that time.
Kathy Galvis, R.N.
Kathy became a registered nurse at the Catholic Medical Center School of Nursing in New York City in 1997, and received her B.S.N. from the University of Texas Medical Branch - Galveston a few years later.
Kathy was recruited by Hermann Hospital in Houston to work in the Intensive Care Unit. Later, she joined Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine as a research nurse. Since October 2000, Kathy has been an integral member of the medical team at Salem Oncology Center.
Although born and raised in the United States, Kathy has a rich Colombian heritage, which gives her special insight into patients from various cultures.
She is fluent in Spanish and speaks conversational Italian.
Kristin Larios, R.N., B.S.N.
Kristin graduated from University of Kansas in May 2013. In May 2012 she was chosen for a three month pediatric externship at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO in the float pool. During this externship she gained a lot of experience in both pediatric intensive care units and medical surgical floors. She was chosen to complete her capstone in the neonatal intensive care unit at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Kristin is certified in administering Chemotherapy and Biotherapy medications through the Oncology Nursing Society.

Graduated as an R.N. in 1986. She worked as a volunteer for two years at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and joined Salem Oncology Center in September, 2000, as an Office Assistant
Elaine has worked in the medical field since 1985. She was educated in Canada and has been an assistant to Dr. Salem since 2006.

Paul received his BA and his MBA in Finance from the University of Houston. Paul has over 25 years of experience in the medical field and has been part of Salem Oncology Center since 2009. Paul was born in Cuba but was raised in the United States therefore, he is fluent in Spanish.
